Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside
Today’s commentary by Dave Whitehead, Author of Making Sense of the Bible
It is interesting to note that the master of the banquet did not see the miracle of turning the water into wine, but the servants were eyewitnesses to the power of God. This pattern is repeated throughout the Bible; the wealthy and powerful don’t see what the God of the universe is doing, but those who are regarded as lowly have a front row seat. God lifts the outcast up while He humbles the mighty and proud, and we would do well to recognize it.
