Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
– Psalm 45:6 (NIV)
Today’s commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Author of Making Sense of the Bible
God reigns upon a throne that will never pass away. He will never be defeated; He will never relent. This should give us great hope, for if God ever ceased ruling, then grace would have limits and mercy would be seasonal. But because justice is the measure of His kingdom we rejoice, for Jesus has taken God’s justice on our behalf, and extends God’s mercy through the power of the cross. Because His justice is forever, His mercy pours out to us for all time through Jesus Christ.
