When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”
– Psalm 126:1-2 (NIV)
Today’s commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Author of Making Sense of the Bible
The Psalmist is reminding himself of the great things that God did for them. Why? In a few verses, the writer will call out to God to do it again. When it seems like nothing is happening in our lives, remind yourself about the things that God has done in the past. This will give you the focus and faith to call upon his name to act now.
