“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Today’s commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Author of Making Sense of the Bible If God were to examine where our heart is, where would he look? The Scripture tells us that one of the first spots is how we use our resources. God has assured us that He wants to give us the kingdom, and the way to proclaim that assurance is in how we treat the poor. It has been well said that if one wants to know what we really value the first place to look is our checkbook. Take some time to look at your spending habits. What do you see? Give some of your resources to those in need and watch what happens to your heart. |
