Peace be with you...
By Fred Gillett, Crystal Cathedral Pastor
"The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace."
-Psalm 29:11, NIV
Having served in the military in the '60s and ending the decade in Vietnam, I had a poor perception of those who rioted on America's streets purporting "peace." They even had a little symbol still used on artwork, clothing, and accessories.
Today, I have different symbols of peace that I am proud to wear and share that represent true peace and come from my Lord and Savior. These symbols are smiles, warm hugs, attitudes, laughs, occasionally tears, all given with a blessing from God.
I take to him my weaknesses, and receive his peace. I accept my circumstances and myself just as they are, knowing that God is sovereign over everything. I no longer overanalyze what others may think of me or argue with them on what they think. Instead, I am thankful and trust that God is in control and that I wouldn't be here if it weren't for him. His peace is the peace I hold on to and share with others.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for making me strong in your peace. I promise you that I will do my best to share with others the blessing of your peacefulness through my actions. Amen.
