Join us for the upcoming Breakpoint Forum: Understanding Critical Theory
Thursday, October 26th @ 8 PM EDT | Dr. Neil Shenvi & Dr. Pat Sawyer
Since the tumultuous events of 2020, it seems that everything is animated by the ideals of Critical Theory—from college classes to cartoons. Many Christians have embraced concepts like antiracism, inclusivity, and intersectionality as the clearest representation of Gospel ethics in the public sphere today. But others have pushed back so strongly that they view any effort to redeem the culture as compromising the Faith. What should Christians do when pulled in these contradictory directions?
Christian scholars Dr. Neil Shenvi and Dr. Pat Sawyer have delved into the confusing topic of Critical Theory and written an incredibly helpful book entitled, Critical Dilemma: The Rise of Critical Theories and Social Justice Ideology―Implications for the Church and Society.
Our next Breakpoint Forum will feature Dr. Neil Shenvi and Dr. Pat Sawyer, along with the Colson Center’s Resident Theologian Dr. Timothy D. Padgett. This event will help you clearly understand what is right and wrong about Critical Theory, and how Christians can respond to it with discernment, truth, and a better way. This livestreamed event will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 8PM EDT.
Here’s a sneak peek at some of the questions this event will address:
- Where did Critical Theory come from?
- What do people get wrong about Critical Theory?
- Can Christians embrace Critical Theory in part?
- Is Critical Theory Marxist?
- Is social justice Christian?
- What does Critical Theory say about Christianity?
There will be a live Q&A following the panel discussion, so bring your questions! You can sign up for this Breakpoint Forum below!
