Warming in Koyuk
Their church building just below the Arctic Circle was in disrepair, cold and crumbling. Heating the structure was costly, time-consuming, and mostly ineffective. Gathering together in that space had become a challenge and a hindrance to fellowship and growth.
When Samaritan's Purse found out about the needs in Koyuk, Alaska, we began the process of building a sturdier place of Christian worship for the town's residents. We sent in 400,000 pounds of materials by barge, made dozens of flights transporting volunteers and needed supplies, and ultimately finished a brand-new church building in a matter months—one that should welcome people for the next 100 years.
Experience the StoryDiscover Koyuk—the place, its people, and their Native Alaskan culture—while learning how a Samaritan's Purse construction project warmed hearts there toward the Lord Jesus Christ.
And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'
Matthew 25:40 (ESV)
