Logos Tech Tip | Examine semantic roles with a clause search
In the previous Tech Tip, we looked at how to run clause searches on grammatical roles—such as subject and object. But this can be refined by looking at semantic roles that include concepts such as:
Agent: The person or thing that carries out an action
Patient: The person or thing that is acted upon
Experiencer: The person or thing that experiences something as a result of the action
So the previous search of Subject:God Object:Jesus can be refined to:
Agent:God Patient:Jesus to find times where God’s action was towards Jesus
Agent:God Experiencer:Jesus to find when Jesus experienced something as a result of God’s action
