Hi [First Name],
Are you considering the Colson Fellows program, but need more information? The three most common questions I'm asked are about the time commitment, level of difficulty, and cost. I’ve addressed those questions below to hopefully offer some clarity.
How much time does the program take?
Most participants report a time commitment of 6-8 hours per week. This depends largely on your reading speed. Many Fellows-in-Training simply re-purpose their current devotional time and a portion of their leisure time to accommodate the program.
Here is a general breakdown of the workload:
- Reading: Just over one book per month.
- Daily: Read and comment on the daily 5-minute Breakpoint commentary. Complete a devotional Bible study (Monday through Friday).
- Monthly: Between one and two 1.5 hour webinars.
How rigorous is the program?
Forming a thoroughly Christian mind means committing yourself to intentional educational effort. The Colson Fellows curriculum provides a graduate-level understanding that is designed to serve adult learners regardless of academic background. People with GEDs to PhDs, laypeople and pastors, business leaders and stay-at home moms, have successfully completed the program. Remember, participants learn, read, study, and discuss in community, alongside other Christians in their cohort, supported by a team of Cohort leaders. No one goes through it alone.
How much does it cost?
We work hard to make this program widely available to anyone committed to the effort. The tuition cost for each student is $900.* Additional expenses include books and materials (around $200) as well as optional costs for attending the Colson Center National Conference. We highly encourage attendance at the conference, which includes the Colson Fellows commissioning ceremony. You can learn more on the “Program” page of our website, colsonfellows.org.
