Have you ever noticed completing a task is easier the 10th time we do it, than the first time? Like a baby learning to crawl, a dancer perfecting a new routine, or your middle schooler mastering the fine art of washing the dishes, muscle memory is created by practicing an action over and over again. Our muscles fine-tune themselves, becoming more precise and exact in what they do. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” The same way we train our physical muscles to improve at a sport or hobby, we can train our gratitude muscle to improve our spiritual outlook. With regular practice, gratitude eventually becomes second nature, making it easy to thank the Lord for the good things He has done for us. 8 Ways to Strengthen Your Gratitude Muscle: 1. Thank Jesus for something good in your life every time you pray. 2. Take a walk outside, and notice something beautiful. 3. Write a thank you note to your pastor or your child’s teacher. 4. Keep a gratitude journal and add to it daily. 5. Designate a #ComplaintFree day weekly. 6. Memorize a favorite Bible verse on gratitude. 7. Share something you’re grateful for on social media. 8. Call or text a friend or loved one you are thankful for. EXPLORE STYLE INSPIRED BY YOUR FAITH >> |
