“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” —John 14:27 In our troubled world, peace can be difficult to attain, and tougher still to hold onto. The news, our checkbooks, our places of work, our relationships…these things all call out for attention. Sometimes the strain of keeping up can be too much to handle. The world rarely offers peace, but that’s what God is all about. My peace I give you, and I do not give to you as the world gives. If your heart and mind are struggling to be at peace today, ask God to take over. He doesn’t want anxiety to overwhelm us. His Word offers peace, and He tells us outright, “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” Let’s pray about it. Dear Lord, right now there is a lot on my mind, and I am struggling to keep up. I ask you to bless my heart, my mind, and my life with your all-encompassing peace. Thank you for your strength, and your provision. In Jesus’ name, amen. |
