Greetings to all My Brothers!
Here are some of life’s “Hacks” & “Cheat Codes” I wish I knew at 22, that I wanted to share with you this week!
1. Use workouts to gain muscle, diet to burn fat, and cardio to improve your overall health & longevity.
2. Eat a high protein diet composed of whole foods & LOTS of healthy, organic vegetables for the best body composition.
3. When lifting weights, use your mind to muscle connection to increase muscle contraction. Feel the muscle contracting in your mind!
4. Upon waking, drink water before coffee. I like my coffee too, but it’s important to hydrate first, as coffee can contribute to dehydration.
5. Use your nose for smelling & breathing. Use your mouth for talking, tasting & eating.
6. Try to sleep at the same time every day. Align your body with the rising & setting of the sun.
7. The 3-2-1 method for better sleep. No eating 3 hours before bed. No liquids 2 hours before. No screens 1 hour before.
8. If you have to look at screens at night, wear blue light blockers.
9. You sleep for 1/3 of your entire life. Learn how to optimize it and make it as awesome as possible.
10. Memory is fallible. When you have a good idea, write it down immediately.
11. Your best ideas come in the shower, walking or in the gym. Keep a notepad ready!
12. Peel a boiled egg by rolling it around your plate for a while until all the shells are cracked. This makes it easy to remove the complete shell in one shot! ;-)
13. Close the toilet bowl when flushing! (...to avoid particles of filth spouting up into your bathroom atmosphere!) ;-)
14. The more you criticize others, the more you criticize yourself. If you want to judge yourself less, judge others less.
15. Stay away from people who always complain. They are energy vampires.
16. Stay away from people who gossip. They are most likely gossiping about you.
17. Think about learning a martial art to increase discipline, confidence & release stress.
18. Take complete ownership for every result in your life. The only constant in every result is you.
19. Don’t fear rejection. If you are not experiencing some rejection & failure on a fairly regular basis, you may not be trying hard enough! Also, you typically only get what you ask for.
20. My dad used to love to play tennis on Saturday mornings when I was a kid. He often told me he most loved to play against guys that were better than him because it always improved his skills & increased the fun of the challenge! So don’t be afraid to be in rooms where you're the least experienced or educated person. You will learn & get better by hanging out with more experienced, competent and talented people! Also, try to workout at gyms where you're the least fit person! Remember, we become like the 5 people we spend the most time with!
21. When you feel an emotion, don't numb it. It'll only make it feel worse later. Feel it fully, then let it go. Emotion is there to offer us a lesson…learn from it. Then let it pass.
22. You can tell a lot about someone's character by how they treat service staff!!!
23. Money (& sometimes alcohol!) amplifies who a person is at their core.
24. When someone shows you their true colors, believe them.
25. A few months a year, go monk mode. Eliminate all distractions & vices and use that energy to build your relationship with God, as well as your wisdom, health, knowledge & business.
26. Your perception tends to be your reality. If you want a better reality, change your perception!
27. You'll never be as young as you are now (except in Heaven!). Do what you feel you're meant to do.
28. Your best decisions come from stillness. Stillness is amplified in quiet prayer, in nature & in contemplative meditation.
29. You can only get stronger when you face problems in life. Embrace the struggle & get STRONGER.
30. Show up, do the work & seek ways to grow. Do this every day & watch what happens!
31. Trust people who say, "I don't know," more than the people who have all the answers.
32. Seek feedback from those in the arena. Not from the ones who are booing from the cheap seats.
33. No one cares. Work SMARTER & harder.
34. Instead of giving your kids what you wish you had, teach them things you wish you knew.
35. Keep a small circle. It's better to go narrow & deep than wide & shallow.
Seek true wealth - which is about being spiritually mature & connected in the right relationship with your Creator! It’s about loving God & loving your neighbor! It’s living in LOVE & sharing JOY with others! It’s about gratitude! It’s about cultivating & living in a household full of LOVE!
That's it. Life's a game. Collect experience points, crush your fears & self-imposed limitations & explore! I hope these ‘cheat codes’ help you in your journey to EXCELLENCE & Mastery!!!
GOD BLESS YOU, MY BROTHERS!
Sincerely,
Bill
