Hello Peter,
Summer is right around the corner. Are you ready?
Kids are coming home from school, family vacation is on the horizon, and there’s a renewed sense of excitement in the air. I’ve found that summer can be one of the best seasons for cultivating a new spiritual habit.
The rhythms of the coming season offer us numerous chances to slow down and connect with Jesus in fresh ways. Here are just a few ideas to help you experience more of Him this summer.
Maybe you can start a new self-help book or try a devotional you’ve never read before. Or start a habit of taking prayer walks in the early mornings or warm evenings. You can try listening to a new podcast, making a list of your summertime goals, volunteering for an outreach or a mission trip, or getting in touch with an old friend to show them God’s love. There are hundreds of ways to break out of your routine and try something new!
Summer is also a great time to experience the beauty of God’s creation in a more intentional way. From camping trips to stargazing, to hiking, swimming, and travel, there are many ways to worship Jesus alongside the trees and fields that are daily praising Him with their beauty.
But whatever you decide to do this summer, don’t forget that your spiritual journey is as unique as you are. Resist the urge to compare yourself to others or feel like you have to follow a certain formula for growth. Instead, embrace the freedom and flexibility of this season and allow yourself to explore new paths and experiences. Who knows, you may discover something that becomes a valuable part of your spiritual walk for years to come.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” This reminds us that our spiritual journey, like everything else in life, has its own seasons and rhythms. Just as summer is a time for growth and change, our relationship with God can also experience periods of growth and transformation. So whatever you do, embrace what He has for YOU in this coming season! I’m praying for you and trusting that He will do great things in your life in the days ahead!
God loves you and so do I,
