Hello All,
Recently, I have been asked how to establish a contemplative atmosphere to assist in deriving the greatest benefit from Bible study. Perhaps more specifically, how to open oneself to hearing God's word.
This is a good question. My circadian rhythms differ from many because I thoroughly enjoy being up late at night. It is a time when it is truly quiet. Next I seek music and have found either Russian Orthodox music or Gregorian Chants that are very powerful in soothing the turbulent mind. I tend to listen to the same piece over and over again. Lately that selection has been "Russian Orthodox Music to Heal Mind and Body; Sacred Treasures" - Choral Masterworks. This has been assembled by Bibleverse Studio. On the screen is an ever changing display of the great Orthodox iconography and a series of Bible verses. The very first is Ps. 30:2: "Lord my God, I called to you for help and you healed me." What a wonderful verse to begin the dampening of the 'self' within each of us and become receptive to the guidance found in our sacred Scripture.
I pray this helps in our personal journey with God.
Love, hank
