Dear Friend,

Summertime is road trip season! You can read about a special road trip I took with my daughter, Haven, in this month's Powerlines. Here are five faith-based lessons taken from road trips:

1. Trusting God's Plan (Proverbs 3:5-6) - During a road trip, there may be unexpected detours. What we perceive as setbacks may actually be divine redirections to something greater. Trusting in God's plan is a crucial aspect of our faith. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

2. Embrace Patience and Perseverance (James 1:2-4) - Patience cultivated on the road reflects the perseverance we need to develop a mature and complete faith. This is mirrored in our walk with God, teaching us to trust His timing. “...The testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

3. Fellowship makes Our Journey More Meaningful (Hebrews 10:24-25) - Road trips and our spiritual journey are both more meaningful with company. Relationships help with growth, faith, and comfort through difficult times. "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another..."

4. Reflect and Rest (Matthew 11:28-30) - Rest stops help refresh us for the next leg of the trip, much like spending time in prayer and meditation. They help renew our spiritual energy, allowing us to find peace and guidance in His presence. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

5. Gratitude for God's Creation (Psalm 19:1) - Traveling highlights the beauty of God’s creation. This helps us to see His glory in the world around us, fostering a spirit of gratitude and worship, and instilling a sense of wonder and reverence. “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

Speaking of gratitude, we are grateful for you! The summer months are always challenging for giving, and I am so grateful for your generosity and support over the years. Would you prayerfully consider stepping into the gap during this season? We are only able to continue spreading the Good News because of friends like you.

Thank you for being part of our support network. Your generosity is truly appreciated.

God loves you and so do I,
