Jesus Loves Me:

A Call to Justice and Hope through the Love of Jesus

Siblings in Christ,

This Sunday when we gather, we will explore our call to justice, hope, and the transformative power of love. Our Scripture readings convey a cry for justice, our hope in the Living Word, and the promise of salvation through Jesus’ love

Amos: A Cry for Justice

The prophet Amos, writing in a time of social and economic injustice, delivers a scathing indictment against the leaders of Israel. He calls for repentance and a return to righteousness, warning of impending judgment. Amos' message is clear: true worship is not merely about outward rituals but about living a life of justice and compassion.

Hebrews: The Hope in the Living Word

The author of Hebrews reminds us of the penetrating power of God's Word. It is a "living sword" that pierces even the deepest parts of our being. This Word, embodied in Jesus Christ, reveals the true nature of God and calls us to a life of holiness and obedience.

Mark: The Promise of Salvation through Jesus’ Love

In Mark's Gospel, we encounter the story of the rich ruler who seeks eternal life. Jesus challenges him to sell all he has and follow Him. The ruler, unable to let go of his attachment to his possessions and surrender to God, walks away sorrowful. Yet Jesus loved him, with a love that frees us to carry on God’s work in our world.

Jesus' Love: A Call to Justice and Hope

Throughout these readings, we see a common thread: the love of Jesus Christ. Amos calls for justice in the name of God's love. Hebrews reminds us that God's Word is a manifestation of His love. And Mark's Gospel reveals the depth of Jesus' love for even the most unlikely individuals.

Jesus' love is not merely an emotion but a call to action. It compels us to seek justice, to embrace the living Word, and to surrender our lives to His kingdom. In doing so, we discover a life of meaning, purpose, and hope.

As we enter this Weekend with Christ, let us be inspired by the love of Jesus Christ. Let us strive for justice, embrace the living Word, and surrender our lives to God. In doing so, we will not only experience the joy of following Jesus but also become agents of hope and transformation in our world.
