Hour of Power

Dear Friend,

In the Schuller household, giving thanks is not limited to a single day—it is a year-round act of worship. In the journey of faith, gratitude is a cornerstone that honors God and prepares our hearts for receiving His blessings and miracles.Read Hannah’s article—and more—on faith in this month’s issue of Powerlines

Here are four ideas to consider while preparing for Thanksgiving:

1. Thanksgiving as a Prelude to Petition (Philippians 4:6) - Giving thanks before bringing our requests to God is an act of gratitude that acknowledges all blessings come from Him and that He is sovereign over every circumstance. Thanksgiving sets a tone of humility and faith, positioning us to rely on God's power rather than our own.

2. Stirring Up God’s Gift Within Us (2 Timothy 1:6-7) - In 2 Timothy 1:6-7, Paul reminds Timothy to "fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline." Thanksgiving stirs the gifts God has placed within us, including faith, which is essential for receiving healing and miracles. Giving thanks activates our faith, recalling God’s past faithfulness and His ability to intervene in present situations. This remembrance strengthens our confidence in His promises and providence.

3. Gratitude Anchors Us in Truth (Psalm 100:4-5) - Gratitude anchors our hearts in God’s character and mighty works. As we reflect on what we are thankful for, we are reminded of God's goodness, justice, mercy, and faithfulness. This recognition is critical when seeking God’s intervention, as it grounds our prayers in Scripture.

4. Thanksgiving as a Testimony to Others (Colossians 3:16) - Expressing gratitude serves as a powerful testimony to others about God’s blessings. As we share our gratitude for what God has done in our lives, we not only strengthen our own faith but also encourage others to trust in God.

As followers of Jesus Christ, integrating thankfulness into our daily lives is essential. To help cultivate this habit, the ministry has created the 2025 Faith for Tomorrow wall calendar, designed to remind us to set aside time each day to pray and give thanks to God. This calendar helps schedule moments of gratitude, making thanksgiving a regular part of our spiritual routine. Each photograph has been hand-selected to celebrate over five decades of ministry by my grandfather, father, and now myself. This calendar is not available in stores or online—it’s exclusive for special friends of the ministry like you, who value tradition and history. For your gift of just $25 or more, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to have this work of art grace your wall in the year ahead.  I invite you to embrace this calendar as a personal spiritual resource. Using it can help you stay aligned with a heart of thanksgiving, ready to receive God’s blessings. This Thanksgiving, let’s recommit to a lifestyle of gratitude, opening ourselves to its impact on our faith year-round. A thankful heart recognizes the purpose in life’s challenges and trusts in God’s good plan."

Always remember, that God loves you and so do I,
